BackRoyal Geographical Society Trip
On 7th June we were fortunate enough to receive a number of free tickets through Timegivers to the Everest 70 anniversary lecture at the Royal Geographical Society. Budding geographers from Year 8 and 9 listened to talks from a range of explorers who had conquered the famous mountain - including Peter Hillary and Jamling Tenzing Norgay - who happen not just to be the children of the first explorers to reach the summit, but also to have achieved the feat in their own right.
We also heard from Ray Mears, who captivated the audience with his experiences of meeting indigenous groups from around the globe. His tales of people living in harmony with nature - even in the most inhospitable of climates - gave us much to think about on the tube ride home from South Kensington.
