BackYear 10 Curry & Countdown
With exactly one year until the Year 10s sit their GCSEs we held a ‘curry and countdown’ evening with students and parents this term to help everyone feel prepared for what was to come. At first, parents were invited to enjoy a delicious meal and dessert (thank you Chef!) to eat, and talk with like-minded individuals who all had teenagers worried about their exams. This more casual approach was well received by parents and carers, some of whom hadn’t been in the school since before COVID. The presentations began, we talked about 6th form entry requirements and Heads of Department explained the revision needed for each topic in the upcoming end of year exams. Ms Cunningham shared some useful information on revision techniques for the students and then everyone had a chance to ask questions at the end as staff stayed around to talk. All in all, it was a fantastic event designed to make the students aware that GCSEs are like a marathon, not a sprint!
