BackArt Exhibitions
The Summer Term is always a hive of activity in the Art Department with the GCSE & A-Level exhibitions being held. Providing the first opportunity post-Covid to showcase Year 11 & 13 students’ artwork, the exhibitions were a well-deserved celebration of their creativity and hard work. Impressive responses to various artists and project themes included paintings, prints, textiles, ceramics, light installations, and photography.
Amina shares her thoughts on the A-Level exhibition.
"A manifestation of the hard work that has been put into art over the past two years, the opportunity to exhibit our artwork was a fulfilling and important conclusion to our A Level Art course. Having an opportunity to exhibit our artwork has not only allowed me to visualise my own piece in the way that I intended it to be viewed when creating it but has also allowed my art to connect with others and has allowed me to receive valuable feedback that I can take forward with me.
Seeing the art of my peers exhibited in the way that they imagined also highlighted the importance of exhibiting, since even though I had watched them create their pieces over the past two years, it was in the exhibition that all the visions and intentions really shone through and the artworks came to life.
On an individual level, the exhibition allowed me to really get a sense of the direction I would be heading in after sixth form. As my piece was an installation, seeing it assembled made me much more confident in my interest in set design and excited to start my Filmmaking degree in September, especially since my A Level art piece formed part of the portfolio of work that gained me an offer."
