Mr Gill Wins Sikh Spirit of Britain Award

A huge congratulations to Mr Gill who has been awarded the ‘Sikh Spirit of Britain Award’ for his achievement in making history as the first Sikh Punjabi to officiate in the Premier League!

300 of the most remarkable British Sikhs were shortlisted as finalists at The 2nd British Sikh Awards 2023 after hundreds of nominations were received from across the country.

The awards aim to recognise a wide range of achievements from inspiring individuals. This includes those who positively impact business, charity, sport, arts, culture, religious advocacy, education and medicine among others.

The awards showcase the strength of the British Sikh community, their impact on our culture and achievements over the last year. 

The event was held on Wednesday 31st May at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport, where some of the most accomplished and influential Sikhs  gathered for a memorable night to celebrate their success. Mr Gill has been teaching at Chiswick School for 15 years (10 years as a head of year) and he is a wonderful role model to all of us. His proudest moment outside of school life has been making his debut as an assistant referee in the Premier League. A recent Amazon documentary was produced which took viewers inside the life of a one of a kind South-Asian refereeing family. Jarnail Singh, alongside his son’s Sunny Singh Gill and Bhupinder Singh Gill, who have made history officiating in the EFL and Premier League. They shared their journey behind their success and the sacrifices it takes to make it to the top.
