Year 8 Humanities Trip

Year 8 classes spent a great day out at the London Docklands at the end of June to expand their understanding of the Humanities. The students completed Geography fieldwork around Canary Wharf, thinking about how the area has been regenerated and what environmental changes can be seen across the Docklands area as a whole. They also spent half a day at the Museum of London Docklands to extend their History studies about the transatlantic slave trade, and to think more specifically about the impact of the trade on London itself. The Year 8s were very impressive in their thoughtful engagement throughout the day, and many asked really interesting and perceptive questions. We were also impressed by how many gave up their seats to others on the train without being asked! Altogether, the day was a great learning experience and also a lovely excuse to soak up some London summer sunshine. Some students even managed to unexpectedly dip into a yoga workshop outside the museum, and pick up some great meditation techniques.
