Year 11 RP Drop-Down Day - The Nature and Purpose of Families
On Thursday 7th November, the RP department ran a drop-down day for year 11 students who take triple science. They enjoyed talks from Christ Church Turnham Green and the British Humanists’ Association on the topic of 'The Nature and Purpose of Families'.
These sessions were very well received by our students, who asked some pertinent questions to our guest speakers. The speakers offered contrasting views on this topic, focusing on issues such as the role of your family, different types of families and attitudes to same-sex relationships.
As well as this, the speakers provided our students with some detail about their beliefs and how these influence their way of thinking. Hearing from these contrasting viewpoints allowed students to think through these issues meaningfully and to discuss their own beliefs and ideas.
