'If You Were an Engineer' Competition Results
This term, the Year 7 and 8 Engineering club received their certificates for the ‘If you were an Engineer what would you do?’ Leaders Award competition. The competition challenged the students to identify a problem and design a creative solution to it. They then had to write a letter explaining why an engineer should choose to build it. As part of the competition, they had the opportunity to watch interviews with engineers to understand more about the problems they solve and the role they play in society.
Students received the following awards:
Year 7
- Dylan C - Distinction
- Finn W - Distinction
- Helena B - Pass
- Jayson I - Pass
- Kai M - Distinction Shortlisted
- Orlando H - Merit
Year 8
- Ben W- Merit
- Samuele T- Distinction Shortlisted
Samuele was then selected as a winner. This is a fantastic achievement as tens of thousands of pupils entered the competition and went through two rounds of grading with engineers. Samuele and his family attended the award ceremony at Kingston University on the 9th July 2024. During this event Samuele was presented with a trophy, certificate, and badge by the VIP guests. Well done Sam!
