Year 12 Study Session with Amjad Ahmed

Year 12 pupils participated in an intensive workshop designed to enhance their study and revision skills, an initiative aimed at better preparing them for their final exams.

The workshop, led by an external professional, focused on a variety of techniques to optimise study sessions. Students were introduced to methods such as the Pomodoro Technique, which encourages short bursts of focused work followed by brief breaks, and active recall, a strategy that involves testing oneself on the material rather than passively rereading notes. Additionally, the importance of creating a structured revision timetable was emphasised, helping students allocate their time effectively across subjects. The workshop also covered the benefits of different learning styles, encouraging pupils to discover whether they retain information better through hearing, writing or doing.

Practical tips on managing stress, maintaining a balanced lifestyle, and the role of adequate sleep in cognitive function were also integral parts of the session. By the end of the workshop, students were equipped with a toolkit of strategies to enhance their study efficiency, ultimately aiming to improve their academic performance and reduce exam- related anxiety.
