PTA QUIZ NIGHT: 29TH FEBRUARY!!
Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Quiz Night. It was a fantastic evening with over 100 parents and staff in attendance - the Quiz was packed with a diverse range of topics, and seemed to be accessible to all levels of knowledge and Quiz experience.
Huge congratulations to the stand out winners of the night (which included core members of the Car Boot committee and our parent governor!!).
Special thanks to the school chef, Tom, who kindly agreed to cater for this year’s Quiz Night and provided a delicious two course meal; to our fantastic Quiz Master James (and helpers Vernee and Vic); to Jo F, Antonia and Kat for their work running the bar (and to all our bar volunteers); to the Chiswick students Rosa, Sheru, Logan and Josh, who counted scores, served tables and were generally brilliant; to Jo Duddy for all her organisational support; and, as ever, the most ENORMOUS thanks to the site team who set up the room, helped us in all areas of set up and planning, and stayed so late to clear and lock up. We are so lucky to have such a supportive Site team, Senior Leadership team, and staff body who add so much to these PTA events.
PRIZES! Thank you to all the local businesses and parents who donated prizes for the Quiz, including the hugely generous Esska shoes; Damsel Boutique; Chiswick Lighting; Mother Rugger; and Thermomix.
PTA BARS
This half term the PTA has hosted a number of refreshment ‘bars’ at Music and Performing Arts events. The feedback from families has been hugely positive for these. Best of all, however, these refreshments raise invaluable funds for the PTA, Performing Arts and Music departments. Profits raised are ring-fenced for the department linked to the event, to use to enrich their resources. This term, the Music department purchased a portable PA system (pictured) for £1495.88 with last year’s profits. This will be used multiple times a term, for concerts, band gigs off site, as well as outdoor events in the summer. Thank you for supporting these events.
PTA FORUM: 18TH MARCH
Thank you so much to everyone who supported this term’s Parent Forum. We were joined by members of the Senior Leadership team, Ms Ellener, Ms Mills and Ms Emmett, who led a hugely informative evening, covering topics including the recent parent feedback survey; toilets; attendance; detentions; mobile phones and school communication, as well as a Q and A. Ms Ellener welcomed open discussion and feedback on ways the school can improve their reach to parents, communicate improvements made as a result of feedback, and opportunities for parents to come into school to meet other parents and members of staff. These are incredibly valuable evenings and we are extremely lucky to have not only such open dialogue with SLT, but also to have the chance to enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Tom, the school chef. Please do try to attend future Forums if you can.
CHISWICK CAR BOOT SALE: NEXT SALE APRIL 7TH!
We are really short of helpers for April 7th, which falls over the holidays. If you have ever considered helping, now is the time! Please get in touch: pta@chiswickschool.org.
The sales cannot run without support from parents and carers, volunteering each month, AND don’t forget you can also support by coming along as a buyer (for just £1), or a seller (from £15). Full details are on our designated website: www.chiswickcarbootsale.com and on our social media accounts.
It is a joy to see so many Chiswick School students at the car boot sales, finding vintage treasures, affordable perfume or second-hand football boots! Thanks to the sales, the PTA is able to support a vast variety of projects and resources. Just this term, for example, funds have been used for new equipment for the Fitness suite; a weaving workshop for Textiles students; GCSE Modern Languages visit to the French Institute; entry into the National Robotics Competition for the Robotics Club, Chiswick Cyborgs; subsidising the Rising Futures programme in Year 8/9; Year 7 History Workshop; Transport for the Year 11 GCSE visit to The Globe; Voice 21 Literacy Project; Y12 trip to the UCAS Fair; A laser cutter for the Design Technology department; and support for transport for Brilliant Club.
