BackDara B gets the plaudits for his “sandwich” speech in Jack Petchey win
Year 10, Dara Brennan won the 2023 Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge, Chiswick Final on Wednesday 15th November with an unconventional and entertaining speech about the humble sandwich!
Dara won against an extremely talented group of finalists from across the year group and will now represent Chiswick School at the Regional Finals competing against other school finalists in February.
The judging team of Mr McNamara, Mr Orr, Mrs Colt and last year’s winner, Tugaldar B, had a challenging task as they looked for the Chiswick winner. Mr McNamara said, “The quality of all of the finalists was really impressive. Without exception, the speeches were well prepared and thoughtful. The speakers also showed real composure when delivering their speeches in front of an invited audience. All of them should be proud of their contributions.” On Dara’s winning entry Mrs Colt said, “Dara’s entry was brave and unique showing a well judged presentational style. Amidst a fantastic set of speeches, he was a very worthy winner.”
The final takes place on the 27 February 2024. Good Luck, Dara!
