BackWhite Ribbon Day
Chiswick school is a strong supporter of ‘White Ribbon Day’, the global movement to gain equality and safety for women and girls. This year, as in previous years, we sold white ribbons in school so that all students could agree to never taking part in, condoning or staying silent about violence towards women. A huge effort was made by all the staff and students to make a donation towards Chiswick Women’s Aid which was one of the first refuges for women and children fleeing domestic violence to be established in the world .
This year Hounslow Council ran a competition encouraging students to design posters to mark the day. Two of our Year 7 students, Esme and Isabella were joint winners in the Year 7 category and were invited to an awards ceremony where they were privileged to meet the Leader of the Council, Cllr Rajawat, Mayor Siddhu and ex footballer Marcus Gale. A big thanks to Harpreet Sekhon from the Learning to Respect programme who organised the event.
