BackGeography Field Trip to Bognor Regis
It was terrific to take the Year 9 students to the south coast to apply their knowledge of coastal processes and management. We had been studying coasts for seven weeks in the classroom and this trip gave them the opportunity to see waves, groynes and even some long shore drift evidence which was invaluable to their understanding. The two days were complete contrasts weather-wise with the Y side having the unfortunate day of howling winds and rain while the X side enjoyed the ‘calm after the storm’ with glorious blue skies (photographed). Nevertheless, the fieldwork was carried out diligently and sensibly with both groups behaving brilliantly. Lots of fun was had writing in the sand, throwing rocks into the English Channel and in the bright lights of the arcade! I really hope the outing will go down in their memory books. Thank you very much to all the staff who supported the Geography department in undertaking this field trip.
