‘Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and how it dictates and influences our behaviour, from communication and memory to thought and emotion.’

In psychology, our intention is to encourage students to become critical thinkers, through acquiring the key skills required to independently evaluate past and present advances in this field. Psychology gives students a chance to question their own behaviour and draw conclusions on why people are the way they are, facilitating them to become compassionate individuals.

Our curriculum is carefully chosen and sequenced to allow students to develop an understanding of key knowledge and skills, with a focus on fostering a love of research. The topics selected reflect real world concepts to allow the students to apply their learning beyond the curriculum. At GCSE and A Level, key modules have been selected to align with each other alongside modules that are studied at university, encouraging students to undertake further study in this field.

A psychology pupil who has the desire to ask questions and also possesses the knowledge and skills to begin finding answers to these questions is one who is prepared for the greater world as a whole. Psychology enables students to understand the world and environment around them, supporting them to be positive citizens.
