- Highlights from Performing Arts
For most, three Shakespeare's in one night would be enough for the week, however the very next day a group of our Performing Arts students performed at the Hounslow Assembly, a day where the great and good of Hounslow meetup to discuss the future of the borough. The group performed songs and dances to a very receptive and appreciative audience, and really showed everyone just what we are capable of... and we made a few good links as well!
W4 Art and Design Show
The W4 Art and Design show is the highlight of the creative calendar in Chiswick. Therefore we were delighted to be asked to perform. On the day our KS5 students sang a number of songs, from "Love and Affection" to "Dry The Rain by the Beta Band" which they had been rehearsing for the past few weeks. In total we performed for just under an hour and at the end got a rapturous applause! This was the first time our KS5 Performing Arts choir sang together, and we are looking forward to our next "gig".
Little Mavis
Our new Year 12s Performing Arts students had their debut solo show at the Tabard Theatre. Little Mavis was an adaptation of the 60s comedy Little Malcom, and is the story of a group of girls (in this case) who plan to kidnap the head teacher, and destroy a piece of art. This was a difficult play to pull off, and even more so for a group who had only briefly worked together, and had limited experience. However the show was a great success, and left the audience in pieces with their comedic antics.
This was the first of many shows for the Year 12s and we are delighted with their progress so far.
Christmas Lights Switch On
Christmas kicked off for us in the Performing Arts with the annual Chiswick Lights switch on. This was something we started last year, and is now likely to be an annual event. On the day we stood out in the cold with our silly Christmas hats on and sang a number of songs, the highlight of which was 12 Days of Christmas. We handed out mince pies and Tunnock's Teacakes and brought a lot of cheer to an otherwise wet and windy evening.
