Safety and the wellbeing of our students is an absolute priority at Chiswick School. We are committed to safeguarding all of our students to the best of our ability at school, at home, online and in the community.

We expect all staff and visitors to share this commitment and understand that “safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility”. At all times, adults should adopt a child-centred approach and must consider what is in the best interests of the child.

Our staff code of conduct makes it clear that we expect the highest standards of care and support for all students. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where students feel secure, are listened to and are safe, as well as feeling respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support and protection.  Staff have a particularly important role as they are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help for students to prevent concerns from escalating. All staff are advised to maintain an attitude of ‘it could happen here’ where safeguarding is concerned.

We have an experienced Safeguarding team trained to a high standard and all other staff receive regular training on Safeguarding matters so that all staff know what to do if they are concerned about a young person.
