British Science Week

British Science Week 2025 at Chiswick School was a huge success!

Our Year 8 students enjoyed an engaging trip to the Science Museum, where they explored interactive exhibits on space, robotics, and the history of medicine. This builds on what they have studied in the classroom this year as well as an insight into ideas beyond the curriculum. Year 9 enjoyed hearing from a speaker from London Zoo, who shared fascinating insights into wildlife conservation and animal behaviour. Meanwhile, groups of Year 12 students had the opportunity to visit Imperial College London and the University of Oxford for workshops on Climate Change and Material Physics respectively. These trips gave them a taste of university life and a chance to explore cutting-edge scientific research.

In addition to trips and talks, students across all years have been taking part in a range of exciting practical experiments, discussions and debates in lessons to encourage them to think of science beyond the curriculum. Sixth form students have received commendations for their entries to the science Olympiad competitions and some students have made fantastic entries to the prestigious Young Science Writer Award competition.

Finally, our school-wide Science Poster Competition saw fantastic entries. Creativity and scientific curiosity were on full display, making it a tough job for us to pick winners! Well done and thank you to everyone who has made this year’s science week such a successful event.
